Community and School Programs

MOCA Jacksonville strives to provide quality programs that build meaningful partnerships with area schools and community organizations in effort to support art education.

Art with a Heart for Children

Art With A Heart For Children embraces sick or injured children with a personalized art experience that enhances the healing process and brings joy and hope to patients and their families.

MOCA Jacksonville and Art with a Heart have partnered to create a teaching artist-in-residency model for working with digital photography and children in healthcare settings. The project will result in an extraordinary exhibition of works by instructor and students, with special commentary by the young patients describing the role played by this creative learning process in their own healing process.

Voice of the People

MOCA’s Voice of the People is an interpretive program that features the recorded accounts and descriptions of works of art on display in the galleries.
Students created mp3 audio files that describe, analyze and interpret works of art from MOCA’s Permanent Collection. The project seeks to improve critical thinking, writing and oral communication skills, increase self-esteem and self-awareness, and foster collaborative team-building skills, while providing an opportunity for creative expression. This year’s program features the work of S.P. Livingston Elementary Fourth Grade students.

Funded in part by CSX, US Assure, Publix Super Market Charities, EverBank, and Target.
