MOCA Jacksonville invites art educators practicing in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns counties to submit work for consideration in the annual First Coast Portfolio: The works of Jacksonville Area Art Educators, November 22- February 1, 2009.
First Coast Portfolio is an annual exhibition designed to showcase the latest works by art educators currently employed and teaching in public and independent schools (including all charter, alternative, private, and parochial settings) in the First Coast counties. Teachers share their creative talents with the next generation; MOCA would like to also encourage those teachers as artists to share their artistic talents with our community.
The juror for the exhibition is James T. Janson, Ph.D. Janson developed the museum studies program at SCAD and served as chair of the art history department from 2000-02. First Coast Portfolio is presented in the 5th floor Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Education Gallery. The exhibition features a variety of media and offers an impressive snapshot of the best work First Coast art educators in both public and independent schools have to offer.
