Docent Training Program

As volunteer educators at the Museum, docents (museum guides) are literally the face and voice of MOCA Jacksonville. Docents strive to meet the Museum’s mission, making the art in our galleries accessible and enjoyable to diverse audiences while promoting a life-long appreciation of the visual arts.

Docents are required to complete an intensive eight-week training that will cover the logistics of giving tours to school and adult groups, the details of MOCA’s permanent collection, and critical issues in contemporary art. Trained docents are then encouraged to fulfill three touring shifts per month.
