FILM: The Revenge of the Dead Indians
Monday, March 26 • 7:30 p.m.
In this “composed film” homage to avant-garde composer John Cage, director Henning Lohner sidesteps traditional documentary conventions, choosing instead to assemble a visual poem of found footage and experimental audio cues. Lohner honors and explores the artist’s legacy directly, through the incorporation of famous concert footage, as well as thematically via staged readings that illuminate the many intellectual influences on his work. The film contains contributions from Cage’s contemporaries and followers, including Noam Chomsky, Matt Groening, Yoko Ono, and Frank Zappa. Presented in collaboration with Friday Musicale and Beaches Fine Arts as part of the John Cage Festival: A 100th Birthday Celebration.
