MOCA Store LAB Gallery
Celebrating the work of emerging African American Artists
April 22nd – August 4th, 2010
MOCA is proud to announce the 2010 Spring/Summer MOCA Store LAB Gallery Series celebrating the work of Jacksonville’s emerging African American Artists. These four LAB Gallery Exhibitions will be held in conjunction with MOCA’s featured exhibition Tradition Redefined: The Larry and Brenda Thompson Collection of African American Art organized by The David C. Driskell Center for the Study of the Visual Arts and Culture of African Americans and the African Diaspora at the University of Maryland. Additionally, during the Jacksonville Jazz Festival we would like to present the work of local African American Artists using the world of Jazz for inspiration. We encourage artists whose work features Jazz as a theme to submit specifically for display in the May 20th – June 9th Exhibition Cycle.

About the MOCA Store LAB Gallery
The MOCA Store LAB Gallery located adjacent to the Museum Store is an informal display space intended to offer an exhibition and sales opportunity to emerging local and regional artists in a high visibility downtown setting. Two artists exhibit simultaneously throughout the season. Each exhibition has an opening reception on the first Thursday night of the series from 6-8pm. In addition each exhibition receives visibility during one ArtWalk Wednesday. MOCA attracts an average of 1500 visitors on that evening alone.
